Long trails are in favour among mountain bike enthusiasts. They are usually organized by a group of friends or through some sort of travel agent. Here we offer you a 3 day package trek comprising evening meals, feed stops, overnight camping and luggage transport.
The cost is very moderate because most of us are volunteers devoted to mountain biking and to opening our area to its devotees, but mostly because local communities help us to promote and organize the event. Our partners enable you to take advantage of that exceptional trail which some experts consider second in beauty only to the Canadian Rockies.
Entries are limited to 500 participants. Don't wait for the date we set as a theoretical limit.

CONCEPT
The name Raid was chosen because it takes place in very isolated
surroundings with severe technical difficulties (Bike carrying, dangerous
portions, long stages) where safety requires appropriate equipment. You have no
right of way over the traffic on any category of road. We may have to alter the
route, and so modify the length and total elevation gain or loss of the event. To
speak frankly, we will admit that the first stage begins with a few kilometres
of country lanes before it takes you to the foothills of Vercors. It also
includes a little stretch on the road through the gorge after Châtillon en
Diois. All the rest is a thrilling experience for mountain bike enthusiasts!
The climbs are fast flowing, with some portage sections, downhill priority is
given to singles, and to panoramas at the food stops. TAKE NOTE: If we alter the routes, we’ll issue the corresponding GPS
bearings and waypoints. You’ll find the current GPS file at the bottom of the
page. The start will be at Villard de Lans, on the 3 june (Vercors) and the finish at Gap on the 5 june 2011
The distance and altitude datas were logged on the field (by Altimetre and
Cycle computer) cross-checked with Memory Map and Carto Exploreur. CAUTION!
Once the file is imported into a cartography program, you will probably get
different readings.
